Sand Ridge Secure Treatment Center (SRSTC) within the Department of Health Services (DHS) is hiring a full-time Financial Specialist – Senior in Mauston, WI. This position will work Monday-Friday from 7:45am-4:30pm.

SRSTC opened in 2001 and provides care and treatment for several different patient populations. The center houses Wisconsin’s Sexually Violent Persons Program, provides care and treatment for persons found not guilty by reasons of mental disease or mental defect, and provides court ordered treatment, testing, and education to patients found not competent to stand trial.  SRSTC is a 500-bed treatment facility and is part of the Division of Care and Treatment Services (DCTS). Watch this video to learn more about the work of DCTS.

Position Summary

In this role, you will provide financial support to the SRSTC Purchasing Department.   You will be responsible for:

  • The procurement of supplies and services according to state purchasing requirements. This includes completing simplified bids for purchase and assisting in the preparation of Requests for Proposals (RFP) or Requests for Bids (RFB).
  • All accounting aspects of the SRSTC Stores Inventory including assignment of accounting or funding codes, the auditing of procurement card transactions for SRSTC and comprehensive usage of PeopleSoft (STAR) Financial software to perform job duties. 
  • Perform financial support duties as needed to assist the SRSTC Business Office.

Salary Information

The starting pay is $25.32 per hour (approximately $52,600 per year), plus excellent benefits. A 12-month probationary period is required.

Pay for current or former state employees will be set based on the rules that apply to compensation for the applicable transaction. This position is in pay schedule and range 02/13.

Job Details

  • All appointees will be required to receive a TB test, which will be administered by SRSTC or medical personnel approved by the facility after to their start date.
  • All applicants who may be appointed will be required to allow DHS to conduct a background check to determine whether the circumstances of any conviction may be related to the job being filled.
  • DHS does not sponsor work visas for this position, thus, in compliance with federal law, selected candidates will be required to verify eligibility to work in the United States by completing the required I-9 form upon hire.

Qualifications

Minimally qualified applicants will have all of the following:

  • Experience using Microsoft Office programs (e.g., creating documents and spreadsheets, maintaining calendars, email correspondence, etc.)
  • Experience with inventory and warehouse processes (e.g., managing inventory levels, purchasing inventory, conducting physical inventories, etc.).
  • Experience, education, or training with duties related to the procurement of supplies and services in a business setting (e.g., researching products or suppliers, processing purchase requisitions, assisting with preparation of RFBs or RFPs, etc.).

Well-qualified applicants will also have one or more of the following:

  • Experience completing simplified bids for purchases according to a set of established guidelines.
  • Experience preparing reports relating to purchasing or inventory.
  • Experience, education, or training with general accounting tasks in a business setting (e.g., reconciling accounts, auditing for compliance, using accounting software, using generally accepted accounting procedures (GAAP), processing accounts payable/receivable, etc.).
