This position is located in the Driver Services / Compliance Unit - Headquarters - Blythewood, SC.
Responsibilities of a Driver Services Specialist II
- Performs all aspects of suspending & clearing driver's license and vehicle registrations that derives from collision reports and uninsured vehicles. Review daily collision reports to create suspensions & compliances to process for clearance.
- Respond to routine telephone calls and complex inquiries from Branch Offices, DMV Headquarters personnel and general public. Assist customers in person or through other methods of communication, such as, telephone, emails, faxes or mail.
- Resolves customer problems and inquires through record research. Review all documents received from insurance & subrogation companies, court and attorney office for accuracy and compliance.
- Uses DMV Phoenix system to enter, retrieve, update or provide data for customers, courts or law enforcement. Prepare & record all advisement for acceptable or unacceptable work in the customer contact history.
- Advises customer on appropriate actions for payment, services and require documentation for transaction processing. Record & collect reinstatement fees, security deposits and security returns. Balance daily individual report, reconciling items issued and maintain an accurate cash drawer.
- Process incoming & certified mail, faxes, emails, SC plates, through sorting, stamping, recording & coding data in phoenix system. Research and respond to FR Research email box, process certification letters and undeliver mail.
- Manages business customer (law enforcement, insurance companies, attorneys and courts) needs, such as insurance issues, third parties information of DMV products and problem resolution.
- Prepare all documents for scanning and perform other related duties.
Minimum and Additional Requirements:
Minimum Requirements
A high school diploma. Related clerical experience may be substituted for a high school diploma. An equivalent combination of education and relevant experience may be accepted with prior approval.
Agency Requirements
A high school diploma or equivalent.
Additional Requirements
• Ability to learn and explain policy and procedures to DMV customers.
• Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
• Proficient in basic computer skills.
• Works under general supervision after a period of training.
• Works in general office environment.
• May be required to work extended hours outside of the normal scheduled work week.
• Must be able to lift 10-15 lbs.
• The work requires sitting for prolonged periods of time and significant time spent at a computer terminal.
