Salary: $54,197 - $94,844

The Challenge

We're looking for Roadside Environmental Engineer to join our Roadside Environmental Soil & Water Engineering team in our Raleigh HQ.

 

In this role, you will:

  • Perform moderate engineering reviews of NCDOT construction activities and the development of sedimentation and erosion control plans for projects statewide.
  • Design and review sedimentation and erosion control plans according to accepted engineering practices and technical design criteria.
  • Support other roadside environmental engineers in plan preparation and meeting the schedules for NCDOT projects.
  • Coordinate with other NCDOT units, State agencies, and private engineering firms for the development of erosion and sediment control plans.

 

What You Bring

  • Knowledge or experience related to environmental regulations, hydraulics, hydrology, soils, stormwater management and vegetation management.
  • Knowledge of current Erosion and Sedimentation Control practices.
  • Demonstrated ability to learn and apply principles of hydraulic design.
  • Knowledge and understanding of general concepts, practices, and theories used in construction stormwater management.
  • Experience reading and interpreting engineering plans and drawings.
  • Experience communicating in writing technical knowledge with others with engineering and non-engineering backgrounds.

 

Education & Experience

  • Bachelors degree in Engineering; or
  • An equivalent combination of training and experience.

  

Management Prefers

Candidates with:

  • Knowledge and experience in highway design, plan preparation, and the current design principles of sediment and erosion control.

Note

  • You may be required to register as a professional engineer with the NC Board of Examiners for Engineers and Surveyors.
