Job Description:

Job Summary: The Healthcare Administrative Intern will gain familiarity with the operations of a major teaching hospital with the opportunity to apply academic knowledge in a real-world setting through exposure to various aspects of the hospital. This opportunity will allow interns to become subject matter experts in their project work by gathering data, learning job skills, and sharing their findings. The Healthcare Administrative Intern will participate in both administrative and operational functions on a rotating schedule that includes senior leadership, and departmental and board meetings.

Essential Job Functions & Accountabilities:

  1. Participates in various projects that are focused on all aspects of work experience such as quality control, process improvement, strategy, operations, finance, marketing, and business development.
  2. Applies practical applications of the academic information learned in the classroom
  3. Participates in senior management meetings, where direction, policy, and strategic planning issues are addressed for the organization.
  4. Engages mentors and other executives for professional development.
  5. Prepares project update reports.
  6. Participates in the completion of special projects/programs central to the hospital.
  7. Develops experience and expertise in at least one area of operation.

Qualifications:


Required Qualifications:

  • Master-level students currently enrolled in an MHA, MBA, or MPH program with an emphasis in healthcare management (or an equivalent degree) from a CAHME, AACSB, or CEPH-accredited program.
  • Complete of two or more semesters of graduate-level coursework.
  • 1 plus year of experience using Microsoft Professional Office Suite including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
