EMS Instructor
This is a support position for training and staff development provided by Lee County Public Safety. This position will assist in planning educational sessions, creating educational curricula and content, and delivering quality education to Paramedic students and prehospital providers. This position will be required to report to scheduled educational events regularly. This will be inclusive of but not limited to paramedic school, quarterly in-service training, new employee onboarding, and simulation lab.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Paramedic-level curriculum development
- Working with Learning Management Software to deliver coursework and manage student performance.
- Delivering hands-on practical education at LCEMS-sponsored training sessions
- Paramedic school instruction
- AHA Instruction in BLS, ACLS, and PALS
- NAEMT Instruction if/when assigned
- EVOC instruction as needed
- Operating the simulation lab
- Working closely with assistant instructors, EMS instructors, and field training officers to assure logistical needs are met as they relate to training and education.
Education, Experience, Licensing
- Requires any combination of education and/or experience equivalent to a Bachelor’s Degree and one year of experience in EMS or a related field.
- Level A EMS Instructor (within 6-months of employment)
- Level B EMS Instructor (within 1-year of employment)
- AHA Instructor (at least one discipline within 6 months of employment)
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) provider
- Basic Life Support (BLS) provider
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) provider
- Active Florida State Paramedic Certification or Registered Nurse
- Possession of a valid driver's license and acceptable driving record is required.
EMERGENCY RESPONSE/RECOVERY ACTIVITIES:
All County employees are required to work before, during, or after an emergency as needed. This may include temporarily being assigned to work and performing duties outside of the normal scope of their position, location and work schedule to fit the needs of the County and its citizens.
