Research Assistant/Research Scientific Aide II - Department of Medicine, Pulmonary

General Information: Asthma affects 6% of children in Illinois, over half of which have uncontrolled symptoms. Stocking undesignated rescue inhalers in schools can provide critical access to life-saving medications, whenever a student or staff member may need one. While Illinois currently funds stock inhaler programming for most K-12 schools, not all schools have implemented the program. We want to determine why schools have not implemented the program by reaching out to schools across Illinois

Key Roles:

• Conduct short interviews with school nurses/school health personnel about stock inhaler implementation at their school 
• Complete data entry in REDCap
• Complete CITI Human Subjects Training
• Provide additional resources as requested

This position would be ideal for someone for an introduction to the research process. This can be completed remotely.

Key Qualifications/ Experience Required:

• Working towards a Bachelor’s and/or Master’s degree in Public Health, Social Science, or related field 
• Must exhibit careful attention to detail 
• Excellent written and oral communication skills required
• Comfort making phone calls and doing data entry required
• Must show strong interpersonal skills and exceptional professionalism
• Experience with REDCap preferred but not required
• Must be able to make calls for at least 10 hours per week between 7AM-4PM (flexible with your class schedule). Graduate students may request additional hours.
