Commercial HVAC Automation, Equipment, and Adjusting & Balancing Estimator (Apprentice)
Job Summary:
At Integrity Controls and Test & Balance Inc., a Commercial HVAC Automation, Equipment, and Adjusting & Balancing Estimator (Apprentice), receives on the job training on the preparation of estimates for project bidding, for the company’s three divisions – HVAC Equipment, Building Automation Systems (BAS), and Testing, Adjusting & Balance (TAB). All estimates are based on project plans and blueprints, specifications, and other contract documents. After training, the Estimator ensures that the documentation for each estimate is accurate and complete. Some direct interaction with our customers may be required.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Mark up plans and blueprints as required for Building Automation Systems (BAS) projects
- Estimation responsibilities for Building Automation Systems (BAS) projects
- Mark up plans and blueprints as required for Testing, Adjusting, and Balancing (TAB) projects
- Estimation responsibilities for Test, Adjustment, and Balance (TAB) projects
- Mark up plans and blueprints as required for HVAC equipment selection
- Estimation responsibilities, and selection responsibilities for HVAC equipment
- Manage time to complete assignments promptly
Skills and Abilities:
- Excellent oral and written skills
- Bilingual (English/Spanish)
- Solid knowledge in Microsoft Office, including Word, basic Excel skills, and/or Google Suite programs such as Google Docs, Google Sheets
- Strong PDF skills
- Blueprint reading skills are a highly desirable plus
- Meticulous and detail oriented
- Strong analytical skills
- Good phone etiquette
- Strong organizational skills
- Must be able to multitask and prioritize tasks
- Good time management skills
- Ability to work independently and unsupervised (after training)
- Strong interactive communication skills and teamwork
- Proficiency in the use of office equipment, including computers, scanners, etc.
- Previous experience with another engineering or HVAC contractor company is preferred.
- Conduct business honestly and ethically at all times.
Physical Requirements and Environmental Considerations:
- Posture and Movement: The ability to remain in a stationary position (sitting or standing at a desk) for extended periods is the primary requirement. Intermittent walking for short distances within the building (e.g., to printers, meeting rooms, or restrooms) is also necessary.
- Dexterity and Repetitive Motion: Substantial movements of the wrists, hands, and/or fingers are required for typing,
- writing, and using a mouse.
- Lifting/Force: The ability to occasionally exert up to 10 pounds of force (lifting and carrying small items like parcels, laptops, or boxes of files) is common, with other movements involving negligible weight.
- Visual Acuity: Close visual acuity is essential for reading, preparing and analyzing data, and viewing a computer terminal or extensive documentation.
- Communication: The ability to verbally exchange information and ideas, as well as perceive the nature of sounds (hearing), might be relevant for phone calls and meetings.
Credentials and Experience:
- Associate degree in engineering or business administration (or currently working towards obtaining), or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience in the construction and/or HVAC industry (preferably commercial)
- Bachelor's degree in engineering or business administration (or currently working towards obtaining), or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience in the construction and/or HVAC industry (preferably commercial)
- HVAC and/or Mechanical systems understanding (or the strong desire to learn)

Schedule:
A. Full Time
- 8-hour shifts

- Shifts and days scheduled based on availability
