Graduate Assistant - Academic Counselor - Academic Counseling FB WTENN

Summary of Job Duties:

Academic Counselor Graduate Assistants are responsible for assisting the Office of Student-Athlete Success staff with monitoring Student-Athlete academic achievement. The following duties/responsibilities may be required of each graduate assistant: 

•Conduct academic meetings with student-athletes to monitor academic progress, degree progress, and continuing eligibility
• Monitor nightly study hall in the Jerry & Gene Jones Family Student-Athlete Success Center - assist with and maintain order, facilitate appropriate learning environment, and direct traffic 
• Efficiently utilize various university student databases such as GradesFirst, UAConnect, Blackboard, and Teamworks
• Create and submit Student-Athlete academic reports to counselors and coaches
• Meet with prospective student-athletes and conduct tours of the academic facilitates
• Assist in collaboration of departmental events and work in a group to complete assigned tasks, such as the Student-Athlete Graduation Receptions
• Other duties as assigned

Regular, reliable, and non-disruptive attendance is an essential job duty, as is the ability to create and maintain collegial, harmonious working relationships with others.

 

Minimum Qualifications:

Earned Bachelor's degree from and accredited institution of higher education

Enrollment and/or acceptance in a University of Arkansas graduate program

Excellent oral and interpersonal communication, analytical, and writing skills

Ability to work independently in a fast-paced, professional environment and meet established work deadlines

Excellent computer skills (Microsoft Office)

Ability to work evenings and occasional weekends

 

Preferred Qualifications:

Interest in working in academic support services for student-athletes, advising, and/or student affairs

Cumulative grade point average of 3.000 or better

Knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations

Graduate students are subject to background checks.


Salary Information:

$19,260.00
