High School Counselor Leave Replacement
The Hyde Park Central School District is seeking a compassionate, student-centered High School Counselor for a leave replacement position. The counselor will provide a comprehensive, developmentally appropriate school counseling program aligned with the New York State Learning Standards for Social/Emotional Learning (SEL) and the ASCA National Model. The role focuses on supporting students' academic, emotional, and social development in collaboration with staff, families, and the school community.

Key Responsibilities:
- Implement a comprehensive school counseling program that supports all students in academic, career, and social/emotional development.
- Deliver classroom guidance lessons addressing topics such as self-awareness, responsible decision-making, conflict resolution, and career awareness.
- Provide individual and small group counseling to support students with emotional, behavioral, or academic concerns.
- Participate in crisis response and provide short-term intervention and referral when necessary.
- Collaborate with teachers, administrators, parents, and support staff to identify student needs and coordinate appropriate interventions.
- Assist with the development and implementation of behavioral and academic intervention plans.
- Serve as a member of the school’s student support and Response to Intervention (RtI) teams.
- Maintain accurate records in compliance with district policies, state laws, and ethical standards.
- Support initiatives that promote diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging across the school community.
Qualifications:
- Required: New York State Certification in School Counseling (Provisional or Permanent)
- Knowledge of New York State SEL benchmarks and the Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS)
- Demonstrated ability to build positive relationships with students, staff, and families
- Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills
- Experience working in an elementary school setting preferred
