Position Title: Entry Level Paramedic/Firefighter (full time and part time)

The Elizabeth Fire Protection District is seeking to fill two open full-time Paramedic/Firefighter positions.

Salary Information: Full Time: $73,428

Department Overview: The Elizabeth Fire Protection District (EFPD) is a progressive department with a service area of approximately 118 square miles and a population of approximately 12,900 residents. The District is located in Western Elbert County, Colorado and includes the town of Elizabeth. Presently, the department consists of 21 career, nine part-time, 30 reserve members, and a full administrative staff that provides numerous services to the community, including public education, fire prevention, fire suppression, hazardous materials mitigation, emergency medical services, and numerous public assists. We respond to approximately 1250 calls for service yearly with an average response time of less than seven minutes after receiving the 911 notification. The Elizabeth Fire District is a rapidly growing area with a projected population increase of 18% over the next seven years. To enhance services to all citizens, The EFPD accepts and provides mutual aid services to South Metro, Rattlesnake, Kiowa, Franktown, Elbert, and other surrounding departments.

Members receive training in specialized areas such as ice rescue, mass casualty events, and general firefighting and medical techniques. Members of the EFPD are provided over 3,000 training hours per year.

Necessary Certifications:
Colorado EMT-P. ACLS, PALS, First Aid CPR. FF1

All full-time positions are for Firefighter/Paramedic. Colorado State FF-I and Haz Mat Operations (minimum) certifications are required for these positions. All certifications necessary at time of hire.

PLEASE NOTE: Marijuana, whether recreational or medical, is a controlled substance and illegal under federal law. EFPD does not permit the use of recreational or medical marijuana.

Work Schedule and Physical Requirements :

Full Time: 48/96 work week schedule.
Part Time: Up to 5, 24 hour shifts monthly
On shift Fire and EMS training
In house Physical Ability testing completed annually. (Similar to CPAT)
