Salary Recruitment Range: $37,782 - $46,062
Salary Grade: NC08

This position currently qualifies for a hybrid telework option with routine office and remote workday. The NC Department of Insurance trusts our employees to be self-motivated and successful in hybrid/remote roles. Telework options are subject to change at the discretion of management.

Primary Purpose of the Position:

The primary purpose of this position is to serve as an administrative assistant for the SHIIP Division.  This involves clerical and telephonic support to SHIIP and SMP staff members, This position provides a variety of business and clerical support functions to the SHIIP Division. 

 

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Receive inbound calls from consumers and routing calls to the appropriate area.
  • Schedule and maintain consumer counseling appointment requests for the Division.
  • Prepare and process all daily incoming and outgoing mail for the Division. 
  • Data entry into federal and agency specific data reporting systems and the volunteer management platform. 
  • Scan and upload consumer complaint information.
  • Serve as the Division liaison for building and IT ticket issues.
  • Provide back-up administrative support to the SHIIP Office Manager.
  • Maintain inventory of all publications and incentive items. This includes keeping the storage room neatly organized and accessible. This position will coordinate with Department personnel on all vendor deliveries and will be responsible for unloading and stocking boxes in the storage room. Some heavy lifting up to 40lbs, bending, stretching, and climbing will be required.
  • Coordinate and prepare the fulfillment of the online publication and incentive item order requests.    
  • Other duties as assigned that have a direct impact on the operations efficiencies.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities / Competencies

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements

High school diploma or General Educational Development (GED) diploma and two years of related administrative experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
