Clerk Cashier - Customer Care Representative

The Clerk Cashier  duties will include, but not be limited to:

  • Train, mentor, coach and provide guidance and leadership 
  • Serve as a shift supervisor which includes supervision and unit accountability 
  • Must be able to multi-task in a faced paced environment.
  • Customer Service Front Desk- Provide legendary customer service and assistance for the recreation center front desk via telephone, email and walk-ins; monitor membership scanning at the scan desk, provide facility tours, up-selling and cross selling our programs and services
  • Cashier/fee collection- utilize computerized Point of Sale cash register, prepare and process varied monetary transactions such as collecting revenue, processing payments and receipts, refunds, transfers, balance out cash drawer and complete the daily/nightly deposit, bank runs, reconcile and complete daily revenue report forms and center records.
  • Data entry- Keyboarding, set up customer accounts, enter class registrations, facility cards, room rentals, scan membership cards, basic bookkeeping and accounting
  • Clerical- file alphabetically and chronologically, research information, answer multi-line phone and computer work such as type accident reports and various other documents, letters and forms.
  • Facility monitor- monitor lobby and snack bar area in order to ensure the safety and welfare of patrons, assist supervisory staff in accordance with center policies and procedures for basic operation needs and emergencies.
  • Open or close member services and serve as a shift supervisor
  • Operate office equipment such as facility card equipment, multi-function copy machines, computer and keyboard, printer and calculator.
  • Facilitate Bank Runs

Perform other job duties requiring skills, knowledge and physical requirements as demanded by those duties described or less. Individual assignments will be determined by the supervisor based on the current workloads and department needs.

MINIMUMS:
High school or GED plus one (1) year of experience in fields providing the required knowledge, skills and abilities; or any combination of experience and training which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
All employees may be expected to work hours in excess of their normally scheduled hours in response to short-term department needs and/or City-wide emergencies.

This position is being advertised as a pool, and applications will be used to fill current vacancies and any other similar Clerk Cashier positions that become available within six (6) months from the closing date of this posting.

The individual selected for this position will be housed at a primary site but may be scheduled between other park sites/facilities. Schedules will be adjusted seasonally and will vary weekly based on events, facility coverage, and weather.

Requires a current and valid Virginia or North Carolina driver’s license in accordance with Virginia or North Carolina DMV driver’s license eligibility requirements.

Must be available to work varied hours (early mornings, nights, weekends and holidays) to facilitate facility operations. Shifts could include: Weekdays 4:45 a.m. to 1:15 p.m., 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., mid-shift of 10:00 a.m. to 6:30 p.m., closing shift of 1:00 p.m. to9:30 p.m., and weekend shifts on Saturday 7:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and Sunday 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Some assignments may require overtime or split shifts to cover operational needs.

All employees may be expected to work hours in excess of their normally scheduled hours or maybe be relocated to another location or job assignment in response to short- term department needs and/or City-wide emergencies including weekends, evenings and holidays.
Work location may change based on operational needs.

As a condition of employment, all part-time employees must attend P&R Connection (Department Orientation). If selected for the position, you will be provided your training date at the time of hire. Training is held from 8:30am-5:00pm, every other Friday, at the Parks & Recreation Administration Building.
