Parks and Recreation Lead Aide - Mount Trashmore

The Parks and Recreation Lead Aide duties will include, but not be limited to:

Providing customer service and enforce rules and regulations

Supervising part time staff and volunteers

Perform custodial duties including cleaning and maintaining all parts of the public restrooms and empty large park trash cans

Provide routing maintenance and construction of park areas, amenities and equipment

Travel and care for satellite park locations

Individual will work in an outdoor environment in various weather conditions

Assist with and/or manage special event participation, set up or break down

Report incidents/accidents and discrepancies

Some locations require clean up and supervision of open range dog parks

Open and close facilities

Perform other job duties requiring skills, knowledge and physical requirements as demanded by those duties described or less. Individual assignments will be determined by the supervisor based on the current workloads and department needs.

MINIMUM: High school diploma or GED, or must possess certification in a related field, or 3 months of related experience and training which Require a current and valid Virginia or North Carolina driver’s license in accordance with Virginia or North Carolina DMV driver’s license eligibility requirements.
Special Requirements
May require operation of a motor vehicle to carry out assigned duties. Program staff may transport patrons.
Schedules may vary to include work early mornings, days, evenings, weekends, holidays, and overtime when required to meet operational needs.
Employees may be expected to work hours in excess of their normally scheduled hours in response to short-term department needs and/or City-wide emergencies.
Individual location assignments will be determined by current department needs.

The individual selected for this position will be housed at a primary site but may be scheduled between other park sites/facilities. Schedules, hours and/or locations, may be adjusted seasonally and will vary weekly based on events, facility coverage, and weather. Maximum scheduled hours up to 27 hours per week.
Requires current driver's license.
Staff member will travel and care for multiple park sites.
Custodial duties mandatory.
Some assignments may require overtime or split shifts to cover operational needs.
All employees may be expected to work hours in excess of their normally scheduled hours or maybe be relocated to another location or job assignment in response to short- term department needs and/or City-wide emergencies including weekends, evenings and holidays.
This position will require that incumbents wear and maintain appropriate personal protective equipment such as, but not limited to, steel-toed shoes, safety glasses, gloves, or other designated safety attire and equipment in designated areas of risk. Specific requirements will be determined and communicated by the employee’s supervisor based on position assignment.
As a condition of employment, all part-time employees must attend P&R Connection (Department Orientation). If selected for the position, you will be provided your training date at the time of hire. Training is held from 8:30am-5:00pm, every other Friday, at the Parks & Recreation Administration Building. When an exemption is permittable, a hybrid version of the training is available, but will require training attendance on a weekend.
