ENL (English as a New Language) Teacher

ENL (English as a New Language) Teacher – K-12 

Position Type: Full-Time, Tenure-Track

Start Date: September 2025

The Hyde Park Central School District is seeking a dynamic and dedicated ENL (English as a New Language) teacher to support Multilingual Learners across grade levels. This position offers the unique opportunity to work collaboratively across grade bands and contribute meaningfully to the academic and language development of English Language Learners (ELLs) in our diverse school community. Key Responsibilities:

Provide direct ENL instruction to K-12 English Language Learners in accordance with NYS Part 154 regulations.

Collaborate with classroom teachers and content-area specialists to provide integrated ENL support.

Assess student language proficiency and monitor progress using NYSESLAT and other relevant data.

Develop and implement instructional plans that support language acquisition and content-area achievement.

Participate in school-based teams to advocate for the needs of ELLs.

Maintain effective communication with families, including those who may speak a language other than English.

Qualifications:

Required:

Valid New York State TESOL Certification (K-12)

Highly Encouraged:

Bilingual candidates

Candidates who are dually certified in TESOL and another content area or grade level

Ideal Candidates Will Demonstrate:

A passion for working with culturally and linguistically diverse students

Knowledge of second language acquisition and culturally responsive pedagogy

Strong collaboration skills and the ability to work effectively across grade levels
